Can you see the grey?

Our world is often black and white, a contrast plain to see,

But can you see the grey if you squint your eyes with me?

A conflict that’s both harsh and cruel, a terror without end,

But can you see the grey if I ask to be your friend?

A point of view that’s new to you is scary without doubt,

But can you see the grey if I talk instead of shout?

Rich and poor always at odds, their fortunes so apart,

But can you see the grey if we judge them by their heart?

The young are always foolish and the old are past their prime,

But can you see the grey if you give them enough time?

Life emerges constantly, then death to cut it short,

But can you see the grey in the lesson that nature taught?

Our world is often black and white, a contrast plain to see,

But can you see the grey if you squint your eyes with me?
